Design notes

The page is re-composed for its height. A large name and program sit at the top, a tan tug-of-war rope crosses at about two fifths of the way down with a red tie on the axis, and a centred stack follows: the Well Done statement, the events in two columns, a grid of details, then the QR code between two signature lines for the head teacher and the PE lead. A pale spot at the top holds the school logo. It prints on A4 or US Letter.

About

Portrait Sports Day Certificate, Tug of War Rope

A portrait certificate is the one children pin to a bedroom wall or slide into a frame. Schools and youth clubs choose it when they want a tall page with room for a full record of the day: every event the child entered, the house, the year group and the date.

Wording on the template“Took part in every event of our Sports Day with energy, team spirit and great sportsmanship, cheering classmates on all day long.”

Subject: Well done at Sports Day, name

Hi name,

Thank you for taking part in Sports Day. You ran, jumped, cheered on your friends and gave every event your best, and that is what makes the day special.

Your certificate is ready. Open it to see it, download a copy to print for the fridge or your bedroom wall, or share it with family.

Congratulations from all of us.

Hyperstack fills in each person’s name and link when it sends.

Post for the recipient to share

Our school sports day was last week, and I took part in every event: the sack race, the relay and the big tug of war at the end. I did not win them all, but I gave each one my best and cheered on my team. Thank you to the teachers and helpers who made the day happen. #SportsDay #SchoolSports #Teamwork

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
