Construction Completion certificate templates and badges
3 free designs. A set is one design as a badge, a landscape or a portrait certificate, or all three.

A construction completion certificate template helps a contractor, developer or owner's team thank the people who brought a building to handover: the project manager, the site superintendent, the engineers, the foremen and the trade partners who closed out the last items. It is given when the final inspection is passed, the punch list is cleared and the keys go to the client, at a close-out meeting, a handover lunch or the company's year-end awards.
A good one reads like a short record of the job. It names the project and the person's part in it, says what was delivered (to specification, on schedule, with the as-built drawings and O&M manuals handed over), and carries the date, a credential ID and the signature of the project director or construction manager.
The designs come as certificates on A4 and US Letter and as badges. Print one for a framed wall in the project office, or send it by email so the recipient can verify it and add the project to LinkedIn.
Wording
What to write on a construction completion certificate
Use these lines as they are, or as a start for your own. Every template comes with wording you can change in the studio.
Wording for a project completion certificate
- “For seeing the Riverside Medical Centre through to practical completion, built to specification and handed over on schedule.”
- “In recognition of your leadership as site superintendent from groundbreaking to final inspection.”
- “For delivering the fit-out of Level 4 with zero open punch list items at handover.”
Appreciation certificate for project completion by a subcontractor or crew
- “With thanks to the structural steel crew for erecting the frame safely and ahead of programme.”
- “In appreciation of the mechanical and electrical team who commissioned every system before handover.”
- “For outstanding workmanship and teamwork on the North Campus residence hall.”
Lines for a topping-out or milestone

FAQ
Questions, answered
No. A certificate of substantial completion (for example AIA G704 in the United States) or a practical completion certificate under a JCT contract in the UK is a contract document: it fixes dates for warranties, retention and liability, and the architect or contract administrator issues it. A completion certificate for a person or a team is recognition. Keep the two apart, and do not use the contract wording on an award.
Anyone whose work carried the job to handover: the project and site managers, the superintendent, engineers, quantity surveyors, safety staff and the foremen of each trade. Many contractors also give one to key subcontractor crews and to the client-side project manager who worked alongside them.
Topping-out marks the day the highest structural member goes in, so it suits the steel or concrete frame crew. Handover, after the final inspection and the punch list, is the natural moment for the whole team, because the building is finished and the client has accepted it.
The project's name and location, the person's role, the stage reached (practical or substantial completion), the scope they delivered and two or three concrete achievements, such as the final inspection passed or the handover documents delivered. Add the date and the names and roles of the people who sign it.
It is an old builders' custom held when the last beam is lifted to the top of the structure. The beam is often painted white and signed by the crew, and a small evergreen tree is fixed to it, sometimes with a flag. Many firms hold a short gathering on site to thank the workers.
Yes. Put the crew's or the subcontractor's name in the name field and the package they delivered in the program line, for example "Curtain wall installation". If each worker should have a personal record, issue one certificate per person with the same project details.
