Accredible alternative
An Accredible alternative without the 12-month term or the add-on fees
Hyperstack has issued verifiable certificates and badges since 2018 for universities, enterprises and certification bodies. Here is how it compares with Accredible, with every fact dated and sourced.
Short answer · facts checked 24 October 2026
Accredible is a capable, long-established credentialing platform for large universities and associations, with a Spotlight directory, pathways, professional services and certified Open Badges 3.0 support. It has no free plan, its entry plan is $45 a month on a 12-month term for 50 recipients, and API access, primary branding and white-labelling are paid add-ons. Hyperstack is the alternative for organisations that want to start free, pay monthly, and get a custom domain, white-label, API and insights included from $24.51 a month for 250 recipients. If you need Accredible’s services team and directory, stay. If you want the same verifiable credentials for less, with no term and a studio that keeps shipping, move; Hyperstack does the migration for free.

Why teams look elsewhere
Why organisations search for a Accredible alternative
- 01
A 12-month term for the smallest plan
Launch is $45 a month, but “billed monthly on an annual commitment”. The first year costs $540 whether you issue in month two or not, and multi-year contracts are offered above that.↗Source
- 02
The things you need are add-ons
API access, primary branding, custom white-labelling, the Spotlight directory, Salesforce and training are each priced on top of the plan. The sticker price rarely matches the invoice, and the white-label tier is the expensive one.↗Source
- 03
No free plan
Accredible has no free tier and starts with a demo. A pilot cohort means a contract first.↗Source
- 04
Cost grows fast at volume
Above 50 recipients every plan is a custom quote. Reviewers call it expensive for large volumes, and Vendr’s buyer data puts the median at about $16,920 a year.↗Source
- 05
An interface that has aged
Reviewers mention a steep curve for administrators, slow dashboards at volume, limited options on lower plans and layout changes that need workarounds or support. The interface has changed little in years.↗Source
- 06
A slow roadmap
Open Badges 3.0 arrived in 2026, but little else has shipped in the studio or the recipient experience. Teams that want AI tooling, an API on every plan and a design studio that keeps improving look elsewhere.
To be fair
Where Accredible is still the better choice
If these are what you are buying, Accredible may be right for you. We would rather you choose well than choose us.
- 01
Certified Open Badges 3.0
Accredible exports Open Badges 3.0 and W3C Verifiable Credentials and holds 1EdTech certification from January 2026. Hyperstack’s signed 3.0 export is on selected plans and not yet certified.↗Source
- 02
Spotlight directory and Apple Wallet
A searchable directory of your credential holders, and Apple Wallet passes for recipients. Useful for associations that want members found.↗Source
- 03
Pathways on the entry plan
Launch includes up to three pathways. Hyperstack offers pathways on Enterprise.↗Source
- 04
A long track record and good support
Issuing since 2013, with responsive support that reviewers rate highly. Professional services, group training and consulting are available at a price.
How to choose
Nine checks before you pick a credentialing platform
Credentials last a lifetime and switching later is hard, so run these checks on every vendor you shortlist. Here is how the two score.
- 01
Reliability and industry experience
Credentials last a lifetime, so the provider has to. Pick one with a track record and a roadmap, not a side project.
- Accredible
- Founded 2013, a long-standing platform used by universities and associations.
- Hyperstack
- Issuing since 2018. Used by Dell, Stanford Medicine, Qualys, Santa Clara University, NITI Aayog and FIDIC Academy.
- 02
Tamper evidence
A record outside the vendor’s database lets anyone prove a credential unchanged, even if the vendor is gone.
- Accredible
- Blockchain credentials listed in the feature grid.
- Hyperstack
- Issuer-signed credentials with a fingerprint on the low-energy Hedera public ledger, on selected plans.
- 03
Native integrations and API
Zapier-only integrations add cost and a point of failure. Look for direct LMS connectors and an API on the plan you buy.
- Accredible
- Canvas, Moodle and Zapier; Salesforce is an add-on. The API is an add-on.
- Hyperstack
- Native Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, Docebo, LearnDash, Thinkific, Teachable, Kajabi, Zoom, Webex, HubSpot and Google Sheets, plus 5,000+ apps via Zapier. REST API on every plan, plus an MCP server so AI assistants can issue and manage credentials.
- 04
Support and service
Credentialing runs all year. Support should answer, and onboarding should not be a paid extra.
- Accredible
- Responsive support that reviewers rate well. Onboarding, training and webinars are paid add-ons.
- Hyperstack
- Email on every plan, onboarding and training on Premium, 24/7 and a dedicated manager on Enterprise. Migration from your current platform is done for you, free.
- 05
Capabilities that scale
Insights, departments and roles, an earners directory and a real design studio, so you never have to switch again.
- Accredible
- Pathways, Spotlight directory, departments, analytics, Apple Wallet. Design options are limited on lower plans.
- Hyperstack
- Insights, roles and departments, earners directory, pathways and collections, design studio, audit logs, reviews collection.
- 06
Security and compliance
SOC 2, GDPR, regular penetration tests, and a privacy policy that does not sell recipient data.
- Accredible
- Enterprise security; security review assistance limited on lower plans; SSO on Growth.
- Hyperstack
- SOC 2 Type 2, EU and UK GDPR, regular penetration tests, encryption in transit and at rest, SSO on Enterprise. Recipient data is never sold.
- 07
Migration support
Export and migration help on the way in, and no lock-in on the way out.
- Accredible
- Issued credentials remain active after you leave. Migration help is part of paid services.
- Hyperstack
- Free, done for you, at any scale: Hyperstack’s team moves your templates, recipients and issued credentials at no charge, thousands or millions. Export everything to a spreadsheet on every plan; no lock-in.
- 08
Pricing and cost transparency
A public price list and no fees for integrations, branding or verification.
- Accredible
- Launch price public; everything above it is a quote. API, branding, white-label and directory are add-ons.
- Hyperstack
- Every plan and tier is public. No fees for integrations, branding, verification or hosting. Non-profit and education discounts.
- 09
Vision and innovation
A platform that keeps shipping: AI tooling, Open Badges 3.0, decentralised identity.
- Accredible
- Open Badges 3.0 and W3C VC in 2026. Reviewers note an interface that has changed little.
- Hyperstack
- AI assistant and MCP server, signed Open Badges 3.0 export, Hedera anchoring, Google Wallet passes, 14-language studio and wallet.

Read every questionIf you want to start free, pay monthly, and have a custom domain, white-label, API and insights included rather than sold as add-ons, Hyperstack is the strongest alternative. If network reach matters more than cost, Credly by Pearson is the other large option. Sertifier and Certifier suit very small programmes with their free tiers. If you depend on Accredible’s Spotlight directory and services team, it may still be the right fit.
Accredible’s Launch plan starts at $45 a month, billed monthly on a 12-month commitment, and includes 50 recipients a year, so year one is $540 before add-ons. API access, primary branding, custom white-labelling, Salesforce and the Spotlight directory cost extra. Connect and Growth plans are custom quotes. Vendr reports a median of about $16,920 a year across its buyers.
No. Accredible has no free plan; you book a demo and sign a 12-month term. Hyperstack is free for up to 20 recipients a year with no card and almost every feature, and paid plans start at $11.03 a month.
Yes, at every published point. For 50 recipients Accredible charges $540 in year one before add-ons; Hyperstack’s Standard plan covers up to 250 recipients for $11.03 a month, about $132 a year, and Premium, with custom domain, white-label and API included, is $24.51 a month, about $294 a year. Above 50 recipients Accredible only quotes.
Yes. Export recipient lists and reports from Accredible, rebuild or upload your designs in the Hyperstack studio, import recipients by spreadsheet and issue in bulk. Accredible says credentials it issued remain active after you leave, so old links keep working while you move. Or let Hyperstack do it: migration from Accredible is free on every paid plan, and the team moves templates, recipients and issued credentials for you.
No. Migration from Accredible is free on every paid plan. Hyperstack’s team rebuilds your certificate and badge templates, imports your recipients, re-issues the credentials you choose and helps you word the email to recipients. There is no set-up fee, no onboarding fee and no migration fee, and it applies at any scale: a thousand credentials or millions.
Every Hyperstack plan issues Open Badges 2.0, and selected plans export a signed Open Badges 3.0 credential in the W3C Verifiable Credentials format. Accredible holds 1EdTech certification for Open Badges 3.0; Hyperstack does not yet. Hyperstack additionally records a fingerprint of each credential on the Hedera public ledger on selected plans.
Not on Hyperstack. Premium and Enterprise include renewing expired credentials, and a recipient counts once a year however many credentials they receive. Accredible’s FAQ says re-issuing an expired certificate requires an additional credit.
Yes. A recipient can receive any number of certificates and badges, in one batch or over time, and counts once a year. Users have reported that Accredible does not batch several credentials to one email address.
No. A credential works from its link and QR code, and anyone can verify it without signing in. Recipients can claim a free wallet at hyperstack.id for one-click sharing to LinkedIn, a public profile, a Google Wallet pass and a single place for every credential.
About two minutes once the design and the recipient sheet are ready, whether you issue 100 credentials or a million. Credentials are generated in draft, reviewed, then published and emailed in bulk.
They stay live and verifiable for life at no cost. You lose the ability to issue new credentials or edit existing ones until you subscribe again.
Yes. Hyperstack offers discounts for non-profit organisations and educational institutions, up to 80% for eligible organisations. Contact the team to check eligibility.
Hyperstack is SOC 2 Type 2 audited, meets EU and UK GDPR, runs regular penetration tests, encrypts data in transit and at rest, and never sells recipient data. On selected plans each credential is signed with your organisation’s key and anchored on Hedera. Customers include Dell, Stanford Medicine, Qualys, Santa Clara University and FIDIC Academy.
