A safety training certificate template gives an employer or a training provider a clear record that a person has finished a workplace safety course. HR and safety teams, site managers, safety consultants and colleges give one to new starters after an induction, to staff after a basic health and safety course, and to everyone who completes a refresher.

A good certificate names the person, the course and the organisation that ran it. It says in a sentence what the person can now do, lists the main skills, such as hazard identification, risk assessment, incident reporting, safe systems of work and emergency procedures, and shows the duration, the issue date, a valid-until date when the training must be repeated, and who signed it.

The designs here come as certificates in A4 and US Letter and as badges that staff can share.

Wording

What to write on a workplace safety training certificate

Use these lines as they are, or as a start for your own. Every template comes with wording you can change in the studio.

Wording for a safety induction

  • “Has completed the site safety induction for new starters and visitors.”

Certificate of safety training refresher

  • “Has completed annual refresher training in workplace health and safety.”

FAQ

Questions, answered

Not on its own. It shows that the person finished the training. Competence also comes from experience on the job and supervision, and the employer decides when someone can work without close supervision. The certificate is one part of that record.
