An essay competition certificate template gives the judging panel a finished record to present once the results are final. Schools, colleges, public libraries, literary societies, writing trusts and professional bodies run essay contests on a set question, often in age categories with a word limit, and award first, second and third prizes, highly commended places and certificates for every entrant.

A good essay writing competition certificate names the writer, the competition and the placing, and says what the judges valued: an original argument, a clear structure, good use of evidence and confident language. Many organisers add the category and the word limit, the issue date and a credential ID, and ask the chair of judges and the competition director to sign.

The designs come as certificates in A4 and US Letter and as digital badges, ready to print for a prize evening or to send by email when the winners are announced.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Most panels judge an essay on how well it answers the question, the originality of its argument, its structure, its use of evidence and the quality of its language. Publish the criteria with the rules, and list them on the certificate so the writer can see what earned the award.
