A seminar certificate template gives you a ready layout for the record attendees take home after a seminar: a half-day CPD session from a professional institute, a guest seminar series at a university, a client briefing from a law or accounting firm, or an internal learning day at a company. Organisers usually issue it as a certificate of attendance, sent once the event has ended and the attendance list is checked.
A good seminar certificate names the person, the seminar's title and date, and the hours or CPD credits it is worth. Many also list the sessions or topics covered, so a manager or a professional body can see what the person heard, and carry a signature from the chair or the organiser.
The designs come as certificates, in A4 and US Letter, and as badges that attendees can add to LinkedIn and that anyone can verify online.
Wording
What to write on a seminar certificate
Use these lines as they are, or as a start for your own. Every template comes with wording you can change in the studio.
Wording for a seminar certificate of attendance
- “This certifies that [recipient_name] attended the full seminar and took part in its discussions.”
- “For attending the Professional Seminar on [issue_date], including the opening talks, the panel and the questions from the floor.”
- “Awarded in recognition of active participation in our seminar programme.”
Seminar certificate wording with CPD hours
- “Attended the half-day seminar and completed 3 hours of continuing professional development.”
- “This seminar counts for 3 CPD credits under the organiser's learning programme.”
- “Completed all four sessions of the seminar, a total of 3 hours of structured learning.”
Short lines for the seminar badge or the email
- “Seminar attended, 3 CPD hours.”
- “Thank you for joining us and adding to the discussion.”

FAQ
Questions, answered
Usually of attendance. It confirms that the person was present and took part, not that they passed a test. If your seminar ends with an assessment or a graded task, a certificate of completion or achievement is the better fit, and the wording should say what was assessed.
It helps. A list of sessions shows a manager or a professional body exactly what was covered, which makes the hours easier to accept in a CPD log. Keep each entry short, such as the session title, and leave out times that may change on the day.
Usually the chair or the organiser signs, because they confirm who attended. A guest speaker can add a second signature when the seminar is built around their talk, and for an academic seminar series the convenor or the head of department often signs.
Most bodies count the time spent in structured learning, which means the talks, panels and discussion, and leave out breaks and lunch. Check the rules of the professional body your attendees report to, since some cap the hours or need a reflection note as well.
Decide the rule before the event and state it in the joining instructions. Many organisers issue the certificate only for the full seminar, or record the hours actually attended, so the CPD claim stays accurate.
