Design notes

This tall page builds the word CHAMPION as a small piece of honeycomb: CHAM on the top row, PION on a second row set half a cell across, and the final N filled solid with honey. A bee has just left that cell, and its dotted path curves down the right side of the page. Under the comb sit the student's name, a line for brilliant spelling, the program, a date, a pair of signatures, and a code to scan that checks the award. The warm cream sheet with navy type is easy to read and prints well on A4 or US Letter for a classroom wall.

About

Spelling Bee Winner Certificate Template

Every spelling bee has a moment when the last word is spelled right and the room claps. Teachers, school coordinators, librarians and parent associations mark that moment with a certificate for the first place winner, and often for the runners-up and every finalist of the school round, the district round or the class contest.

Subject: A spelling bee certificate for name

Dear parent or guardian of name,

Congratulations! Taking part in the spelling bee takes courage, and name stood up and gave it a real try. We enjoyed every word.

The certificate is ready. Open it to see it, then download a copy to print and put on the fridge or the classroom wall.

Thank you for helping name practise at home. We hope to see you at the next bee.

Post for the recipient to share

Our class spelling bee took place today, and I could not be prouder of every child who stood up to spell in front of their friends. Their hard work, practice and bravery were wonderful to see. Each speller now has a certificate to take home. Well done, everyone, and thank you to the families who helped them practise. #SpellingBee #Teachers #Education

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
