Design notes

This landscape version gives the left half of the page to a full circle of fifths engraved in black: a five-line staff bent into a ring with each key's true signature, the major keys, the relative minors and a wine treble clef in the hub. The name runs across the top in a flowing script. On the right, a column holds the program, the statement, the level, result, issue date and credential ID, the skills assessed, two signatures and a QR code. It suits a wall frame in a teaching studio or a school music department.

About

Music Certificate Template, Circle of Fifths Landscape

A graded music exam tests more than the pieces. Candidates play scales and arpeggios, sight-read an unseen passage, answer aural tests on rhythm, pitch and cadences, and show what they know of keys, intervals and harmony. Music schools, academies and private teachers give a certificate when a student passes a grade, completes a theory course or finishes a year of lessons, and the result, such as pass, merit or distinction, goes on the record.

Wording on the template“has shown fluent sight-reading, a secure ear and a sound grasp of harmony, and has performed with control and musicianship, alone and with others, to the examiners' standard.”

Subject: Congratulations, name: your music certificate is here

Hi name,

Congratulations on your result! All those hours of scales, sight-reading and rehearsal have paid off, and we are very proud of what you showed in your exam.

Your music certificate is ready. Open it to see it, download a copy to print for your practice room, or share it on LinkedIn and with your family so they can celebrate with you.

Keep playing, and we look forward to hearing what comes next.

Post for the recipient to share

Very happy to share that I passed my Grade 5 music theory and performance exam with merit. Months of scales, sight-reading and ear training went into this, and I am grateful to my teacher for her patience and encouragement. Next step: Grade 6, and more time making music with others. #Music #MusicTheory

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it on its side, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
