Design notes

On this landscape certificate a wooden height-chart rule stands up the left edge. Three pencilled marks climb beside it, one per term, each with a skill such as persistence or a growth mindset, and this year's mark is a long green line with the student's name written on it. The right side holds the statement, the period, what was measured, the issue date, the credential ID, two signatures and a QR code. It fits a classroom wall or a fridge at home.

About

Most Improved Certificate Template, Height Marks Landscape

A most improved award honours the student who grew the most, measured against their own starting point rather than against the top of the class. Class teachers usually nominate the student, and a head of year or principal presents it at the end-of-term or end-of-year assembly. The reason can be better grades, steadier effort, stronger attendance or new confidence, and naming it is what makes the award mean something to the student and the family.

Wording on the template“For remarkable progress over the school year. Through steady effort, patience and the courage to keep trying, this student has grown in confidence and in results, term by term, and set a fine example for the whole class.”

Post for the recipient to share

I am proud to share that I received the Most Improved Student award at my school this year. I set myself goals in maths and science, kept a study routine all year and asked for help when I needed it, and my grades rose term by term. Thank you to my teachers for their patience and encouragement. #GrowthMindset #StudentLife

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it on its side, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
