Design notes

This landscape certificate is drawn as that term block of the record. The term sits on an umber tab over a long rule, the student's name runs across the page in a script hand, and a ruled table lists each requirement with its standard and a bronze tick, closed by a bookkeeper's double rule with DEAN'S LIST printed beneath it as the result. A short statement, the level, the issue date, the credential ID, signatures for the dean and the registrar and a QR code complete the record. It suits colleges and departments that want a sober, document-like honor.

About

Dean's List Certificate Template, Term Record Landscape

A place on the Dean's List is earned one term at a time. At the close of each fall or spring semester, a college or school looks at every student's term grades and course load, and the dean's office names those who reached its standard. Each school sets its own threshold, often a minimum term grade point average and a full-time load with no failing grades, and the honor is then noted on that term of the student's transcript.

Wording on the template“Named to the Dean's List in recognition of outstanding academic achievement this term, placing among the highest-achieving students of the college and meeting every standard of the honor recorded below.”

Post for the recipient to share

I am proud to share that I was named to the Dean's List this semester. It took steady work across every course, many late evenings in the library and a lot of support from my professors, classmates and family. Thank you to everyone who helped along the way. On to next term. #DeansList #HigherEducation

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it on its side, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.

Certificate or badge?

Send both. They do different jobs.
