Design notes

The portrait version rebuilds the term record as one centred column, which suits a frame or a folder. The organisation and the office of the dean head the page, then the term tab, the student's name in script and the college or program. Under a short statement, a full-width table lists each requirement with its standard and a tick, and a double rule leads to DEAN'S LIST in tall inscriptional capitals. The level, GPA scale, issue date and credential ID share one row above two signatures and a centred QR code.

About

Dean's List Certificate Template, Term Record Portrait

Students often keep their Dean's List recognition with their other academic papers, and many families frame it. Colleges, community colleges and university faculties issue it after grades close for the term, to every student who met the standard the school has set for itself, most often a term GPA floor together with a full-time course load and good academic standing. The dean usually signs, sometimes with the registrar who records the honor on the transcript.

Wording on the template“Named to the Dean's List in recognition of outstanding academic achievement this term, placing among the highest-achieving students of the college and meeting every standard of the honor recorded below.”

Post for the recipient to share

I am proud to share that I was named to the Dean's List this semester. It took steady work across every course, many late evenings in the library and a lot of support from my professors, classmates and family. Thank you to everyone who helped along the way. On to next term. #DeansList #HigherEducation

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.

Certificate or badge?

Send both. They do different jobs.
