Design notes

This landscape layout sets MERIT as a row of five stylised punch marks, each letter in its own shaped outline, an echo of the marks silversmiths once struck on tested metal. The script name and the award line follow, then a two-column record: the statement and a register of level, area, issue date and credential ID on the left; four achievements, two signatures and a QR code on the right. Ivory, near-black and deep oxblood keep it formal for a school hall or an office wall.

About

Certificate of Merit Template, Hallmark Run Landscape

A certificate of merit says that a piece of work, a term of effort or a record of conduct was measured against a high standard and passed. Schools give it at prize days and end-of-term assemblies, sports and hobby clubs at their annual dinners, and employers when someone clearly goes beyond the role. It is earned rather than given for taking part, so it reads best when it states what the person did and at what level.

Wording on the template“Awarded in recognition of outstanding work and exemplary conduct throughout the term. This work was tested against our highest standard and found to be of true merit, an example to all.”

Subject: name, you have been awarded a Certificate of Merit

Hi name,

Congratulations. Your work stood out, and we are glad to recognise it with a Certificate of Merit. The reason for the award is written on your certificate, because we want you to remember exactly what you did so well.

Your certificate and badge are ready. You can download and print the certificate, and share the badge on LinkedIn or anywhere else you like; anyone who opens it can check that it is genuine.

Thank you for setting such a good example.

Warm regards

Hyperstack fills in each person’s name and link when it sends.

Post for the recipient to share

I am proud to have received a Certificate of Merit for my work this year. Thank you to everyone who supported me and pushed me to do my best, and to the team who took the time to recognise it. On to the next goal. #Achievement #Recognition

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it on its side, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.

Certificate or badge?

Send both. They do different jobs.

Certificate

  • A full record: name, statement, skills, dates and signatures
  • Printed and framed, or kept as a PDF
  • Opens to a page anyone can verify

Digital badge

  • A small image people put on LinkedIn and in email signatures
  • Carries the verified details inside it (Open Badges 2.0)
  • One click shows who earned it and who issued it
