Design notes

Here the row of five stylised punch marks is centred near the top, under the logo and organisation, with the recipient's name in script below it. The statement and four achievements follow in a calm column, then a ruled register row with level, area, issue date and register number. At the foot, two signatures sit on either side of the QR code. The punch marks are a design device rather than an official mark, so the page fits any school, club or company.

About

Certificate of Merit Template, Hallmark Run Portrait

Teachers often hand out a certificate of merit for one standout effort: the best project at a science fair, a term of exemplary behaviour, a top mark in a hard exam. High schools add them to award evenings, and clubs and workplaces use the same award for volunteers and staff whose work was noticed. A tall page suits the folders, display boards and frames where these awards usually end up.

Wording on the template“Awarded in recognition of outstanding work and exemplary conduct throughout the term. This work was tested against our highest standard and found to be of true merit, an example to all.”

Subject: name, you have been awarded a Certificate of Merit

Hi name,

Congratulations. Your work stood out, and we are glad to recognise it with a Certificate of Merit. The reason for the award is written on your certificate, because we want you to remember exactly what you did so well.

Your certificate and badge are ready. You can download and print the certificate, and share the badge on LinkedIn or anywhere else you like; anyone who opens it can check that it is genuine.

Thank you for setting such a good example.

Warm regards

Hyperstack fills in each person’s name and link when it sends.

Post for the recipient to share

I am proud to have received a Certificate of Merit for my work this year. Thank you to everyone who supported me and pushed me to do my best, and to the team who took the time to recognise it. On to the next goal. #Achievement #Recognition

Printing

Printing it well

Print at actual size

Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.

Use card, not paper

A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.

Frame it

A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.

Mind the edges

Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
