Design notes
This portrait version turns the run sheet on its side so time runs down the left margin. The orange bar starts at the kickoff ring beside the organiser's name, passes a shaded night band next to the participant's name, and drops square milestone nodes beside each row of achievements: team formed, the build sprint, the prototype demo and the pitch. The details (duration, format, role and credential ID) stand on the same rows. At the foot, the bar ends in the finish knob next to a 00:00:00 countdown and the issue date, with two signatures and a QR code on one line.
About
Hackathon Certificate Template, Run Sheet Portrait
Schools, youth programs and university departments that run a hackathon or an ideathon often file their certificates in portfolios and binders, or print them for a notice board, where an upright page fits best. The certificate confirms that the student or professional joined a team, built a working prototype within the time limit and pitched it on demo day, and it names the organiser, the event and the date the clock ran out.
Wording on the template“Took part in the build from kickoff to the final demo: formed a team, turned an idea into a working prototype against the clock, and pitched it to the judges on demo day.”More wording ideas for hackathon certificates

Subject: name, your hackathon certificate is ready
Hi name,
Thank you for building with us. You formed a team, worked through the deadline and showed the judges what you made, and that is worth keeping a record of.
Your certificate of participation is ready. Open it to see it, download a copy to print, or share it on LinkedIn next to a link to your project so your network can see what you built.
We hope to see you at the next kickoff.

Post for the recipient to share
Last weekend our team went from a blank repo to a working prototype in 48 hours, then pitched it to the judges on demo day. Very little sleep, a lot of learning, and great teammates. Proud to share my hackathon certificate of participation. Thank you to the organisers and mentors who made it happen. #Hackathon #BuildInPublic
Recipients share it with one click from their credential page, with the badge attached.
Printing
Printing it well
Print at actual size
Choose “Actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, not “Fit to page”, so the margins and the QR code keep their size.
Use card, not paper
A matte or silk card of 200–300 gsm (about 80–110 lb cover) feels like an award and does not curl in a frame.
Frame it
A4 fits a standard 21 × 29.7 cm frame; US Letter fits an 8.5 × 11 in frame, or an 11 × 14 in frame with a mat. Hang it upright, as designed.
Mind the edges
Most home printers leave a thin white border. For a design that runs to the edge, use a print shop or your printer’s borderless setting.
Certificate or badge?

Space Grotesk (title, text, recipient name), JetBrains Mono (labels), La Belle Aurore (signatures). All are Google Fonts, free for personal and commercial use, and you can swap any of them in the studio.
Yes. Every text, colour and drawing is its own layer in the studio. Add your logo in the logo spot; the design keeps its balance with a wide or a square logo.
Yes. Each recipient gets their own credential page, where they download a PDF in the paper size you chose, or share a link that anyone can verify.
Yes. This design is part of a set: Run Sheet Hackathon Badge and Run Sheet Hackathon Certificate. Issue them together so the certificate and the badge read as one award for hackathon.
